Eiji Oyamatsu, an 88-year-old Catholic Japanese sculptor, has completed 40 years of work on the world's tallest wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. The statue will be placed in Nagasaki in memory of the Catholic peasants of the Shimabara rebellion.
