Marcus Larson (1825–1864), 'Ocean at Night with Burning Ship' (detail), oil on canvas, Private collection. Larson was one of Sweden's foremost 19th-century landscape painters. His paintings were known for being dramatic and primarily depicted ed sea scenes under violent skies.
